Sketch of Dole’s Salient position

A crude sketch of the Confederate positions at Dole’s Salient by a member of Co. I of the 5th Maine.

Note the regiment was the left most regiment in the first rank during Upton’s charge.  There are certainly minor discrepancies but certainly nothing too glaring. Obviously on the 10th they didn’t know about the “Bloody Angle” but good stuff nevertheless.

Thanks for the question. I will be happy to as soon as I can. I came across it as as was cleaning up all the loose materials in my office the other day. As you can see it was part of an article about the 5th Maine. So it need to find the rest of the papers to determine the source. As soon as I do I will forward the info on to you.
      Thanks again for the interest.
